Hello from Somerset, well it's Wednesday and I have just had two wonderful days and two nights with my dearest friends from Mandurah, Jan & Gerry :) The arrived late Monday afternoon, whilst I was shopping in Tesco's ( I was actually using the Tesco experience to stay cool and keep out of the heat!) I called over to the place where they were staying in Shepton Mallet, "The Highwayman" not that fancy and apparently the rooms were tiny! On a positive note, we all had a drink in the lounge and then had a meal there which wasn't bad for pub grub! After dinner I took Jan and Gerry for a little scenic tour of some of Shepton, we did Tesco's, lol but by this time it was closing at 10pm and it was just getting dark, so I took them for a bit of a drive and the headed back to the Inn.
Tuesday's Agenda - 22 July 2013
Stonehenge. Both Jan and Gerry had driven past it on the way to see me and couldn't get close to it, as they were on the main highway, so I said to Jan, it's your Holiday, do what you want to do.
We had a lovely drive, poor Gerry was henpecked by not one, but two females, telling him which way was the "right" road to turn and he had the GPS as well! We arrived after lunch, the weather was quite warm and I wished I had worn a hat (but I don't do hats, look ridiculous!) Not a particularly great time to be there, ton of tourist buses, Germans were in town, along with thousand kids! Not a fan of the school hols :( I guess I will have my Karma, after saying that, when I'm a Nannie lol
Some pics of the rocks :)

Was a bit breezy, but a splendid day!
After we had stopped for refreshments and listening to some beautiful little local birds, we started the journey ack to Shepton Mallet. We made good time, so I thought I would take Jan and Gerry to Wells to see the Wells Cathedral, which is magnificent, if you ever get to Wells, you must stop for a couple of hours to look at it. I didn't have my camera with me, Jan and Gerry did, but I shall try and find some pics on the net to post here for you.
After we had a major walk around inside the Cathedral, we decided it was well and truly time to go find somewhere nice for dinner, so I took Jan and Gerry to the "Dust Hole" a local little restaurant/pub which also had accommodation and was tucked away up a few windy alley ways. It was so nice and we had such a cheery Barman, I'm so sorry now I didn't get a pic of him, as he was quite young and had the biggest smile :) from here to Texas, as the saying goes! Seriously though, he was great and would have done anything for us! There was a bit of a laugh as we got thee menu's and not one was the same, so we all had a bit of a giggle about that, but had a really lovely meal. Nice home style cooking with fresh ingredients, fresh Somerset cider and local produce, nothing could be nicer.

Last day officially with Jan & Gerry, so am taking them to the Cheddar Gorge, I have already been there, but it is such a lovely place, I'm happy to spend the day there again :)
I'll post a couple of pics again to remind you of how beautiful it is :)
We walked right down the length of the actual village and tasted some cheese, but by this time we were all getting a wee bit tired and to top it off The ATM machine wouldn't give Gerry his money, so off we went home! An early night for Jan and Gerry as they head off tomorrow, I'm going to miss them, it has been so lovely being with them again. I totally enjoyed their company and hope they saw all of what they wanted while they were here in Somerset.
I got my second wind around 10pm as it was just getting dark, the weather was cool and so I got stuck into some job applications, finishing off three and sending off their cover letters and applications, I have got to be getting better at this! Time for bed now I think, my watch says 12.15pm and I can't read the paper anymore, think that is a sign. Lol Night people's xxxx

Woke up this morning to the sound of my IPad singing its alarm tune, definately not ready to get up! Looking out the window and it's all misty and foggy, where has summer gone? Is quite cold! I have to force myself up and Adam, as I have to get my car down to the little garage in the village. Got a little problem with the idling speed, it sometimes stalls, so while it's under warranty, taking it back to get looked at. Might just be an adjustment hopefully. Gee a brisk walk back from the Garage, I was a bit cheeky, I asked the young guy Down at the garage if I could have his cuppa that he was drinking, he just chuckled and said, kettle is on, if you want one! it was hardly worth waiting though, so I headed back home as cars were zooming past me on the busy road. Got back home, finished my breaky and it was time to sit on the couch and yep you know what followed, I fell asleep! Had to have a little kip before Jan and Gerry called to say goodbye. They were a little late leaving their hotel so I got a few more mins shut eye Thani thought I would. Had a nice cuppa and a bit of a chat and it was time to say goodbye to my beautiful friends till I meet them next visit. It was sad, but I know I will see them again one day soon xxxxx
Hope you have enjoyed today's blog, much love xxxxxx from moi until my next blog Love always xxxxxx
