March Road Trip to Aylesbury

Hello to my beautiful family and friends xxx it's been a busy couple of weekend's, even too busy to report in, you might say!

One thing today, I had to try and keep my head upright and stop myself from nodding off this afternoon at work! We finally got the boiler fixed after a couple of weeks of being broken, and having to survive the cold office and house, today was just too much for my body to cope with, nice warm toasty room, sun was pouring in through the window, I was battling to keep awake! One quick dash out to the Mortuary, that did the trick, it was about 6 degrees outside, forgot my scarf didn't I, so I rushed out the back, couldn't remember the security code, standing out in the cold, then went in the Mortuary, got what I had to get, dashed back inside and yes I was awake finally!

I am grateful for a slower work week this week, shhhh did I say that, that is a bad omen, I should know better than to utter those words! Work is good at the moment, playing catch up, which is a nice feeling.

I have had a fortnight of work, two road trips now. The first road trip was to see my friend's Angela and Roger, who live in Aylesbury.

I decided to go on a sat morning, filled the car up with petrol, got the car washed, (we help out the Romanian's, here with their excellent car wash service, £5 for the outside only, or £10 for both inside and out. No longer do I battle over cleaning my car. Especially here in the Uk, where you have your car cleaned and then drive a few miles down the road/lane or motorway, only to be met with larger lorries (trucks in Aussie lingo) or be following the local farmer in his Ruck maker (tractor) which leave a hell of a mess all over the road and your car! Roll on spring, summer, when we don't have rain showers, people spraying their windscreen washing stuff onto your car, crap manure (that's what happens when you live in a rural area) sticking the wheels and your car!

Anyway I digress, once I had my nice sparkling car, car full of petrol, necessary snacks for the journey, I head off to Buckinghamshire. The road trip took me about 2 1/4 hours and I arrived at Angela and Roger's around lunch time. It was so nice to see them :) also to see their new place where they had moved to.

We all had a cuppa and then Angela and Roger had decided that they would like to join me on a further road trip to see where my Grandfather (Dad's father Robert) was born.

He was born in Risely which is now spelt Riseley, Bedforshire. Angela and I did a bit of research on Find My Past, which also helped us find an address of where my Grandfather lived when he was 11 yrs old. They moved to a little village called Keysoe, and when we got there, we went and asked the resident of where we thought he lived, which was called the Bricklayers Arms (hotel) which now is half residence and half a Florist shop. The gentleman who lived in the residence said that he knew that it was called "the white horse" prior, but he didn't know about the "Bricklayers Arms".

The street my Grandfather lived in - 20 Keysoe Row.

Sunday morning I had a nice sleep in and then we had breakfast. We all then went for a big walk around the lakes, taking pics of the ducks out on the water, model racing boats (a club were taking it very serious, having an actual sail on as we went by. Angela knew a friend of a friend of one of the organisers so we stopped and had a chat, well until my fingers started to turn a blueish colour! We went back via Sam's house, Angela's daughter's place and we had a bit of a chat with her and the bub, before going back home, where Angela and Roger prepared a beautiful cooked lunch for us all. I decided that at 3pm I should head off, so I would be back home before dark. We said goodbye and took a few pics which I can't seem to load here, but you might get to see them by this link below.
