Hello beautiful people xxx It's not even the weekend and I'm feeling so pumped! What started potentially as bad news on Monday about not getting the 12 week in Corsham, has proved to open up other doors for me this week.
Before I go any further, I have a few other pics of the beautiful Bradford On Avon that I must post, I dont know what I was on last week, but I didn't do a very good job with all the pics!
This beautiful tree again in the park right on the Avon River, a closer shot :)
Coming over the main bridge in Bradford On Avon.
On the bridge looking right.
Centre of the shops.
Directions are good here :)
Main street, looking up the hill. look at that blue sky!
There is an E J Brown on here, could be a relly :)
Again a few Brown's, anyone T home can you show Dad please xx
I didn't catch what she represented, as I was going to get run over!
Ok, I'm walking along the river bank now' there were a family of ducks, possibly a few and white swans all feeding on bread which a few people were throwing in. This was on my wow down to the Historical Farm, where I had a look at their craft fair.
Fascinating gardening techniques on the other side of the river.
This pic would have been even lovelier if I could have photoshopped the stree stump out the way, but I just couldn't get past it.
I wouldn't mind living here :)
A great spot down near the farm, where families could bring their pets to have a swim, they loved it, they all got on too, not one snarl amongst them!
The old farm buildings.
Another shot looking at the Avon River as I was walking back from the Farm.
Now I have completed the pics I forgot, I can continue my story of the last few days. After the bad news on Monday of not getting the job in Corsham, I must say I was quite disappointed to say the least. Thinking about it later though, I was thankful in many respects after the long drive I had experienced and deep down I knew that I wouldn't have been able to keep that up for a long period of time.
Tuesday came quick enough, tried to get myself up and Adam early, but felt like absolute shite, so decided to shower get myself ready if and when the agencies called me, but because I was feeling yuck, had my cuppa and some breakfast and went back to bed for another hour's rest, which did me the world of good, as I was ready then to get up, start on my New CV and Cover Letter for my prospective employer, whoever that might be.
I went down to the Dr's to pick up a script and was chatting to Alex in the office and he was telling me that there was still a position for a Dispenser part time, I talked to him for a few minutes, said that did he think I could apply as I wasn't qualified, but was prepared to do any training or qualification if needed. He told me to send my email to the Surgery Manager, which I did, so that was Tuesday done mostly, working on my CV and job applications. Tuesday night was kind of a long night, as I was still working on jobs and then doing my meditation and before I went to bed, thought I would have a night cap, as I was really thirsty. I thought I'll have one of those cider's in the fridge, wrong move! Yes it helped me get to sleep, but we'd morning I woke with such a headache and a feeling of complete fogginess :( don't know if it was the cider, or what but wasn't a good start, quick shower, hot steam and nose spray later, I was starting to feel human again. Went for a run into the shops to do some shopping, not much in the fridge girl, long weekend coming up, better go and buy some staples.
Just as well I didn't stay long at the shops, I was putting the shopping away, when I got a phone call from Juice recruitment in Bath. Alana, how busy are you? Can you be in Bath in an hour? Wow it takes me 40 mins at least to get there and then I have to find parking, not a problem I Say :). I arrived at the factory where I had the template net just for the afternoon and yayyy we have a huge parking lot, a massive factory in fact. Just need to the office and I will be happy. I see a nice man coming towards me, briefcase in hand, so think, yes he must have come from the office. He obliges and gives me directions to the office. I go through the central reception doors and first impression is WOW, all the furniture is red, grey and white, it's very striking! Very very modern office. I am met by the receptionist Nikki whom I'm replacing for the afternoon, she wants to brief me before she has to leave in an hour. I get shown around, toilets, reception coffee machine, company canteen, Nikki sends me of to get my lunch. This is all a bit fancy. I get my lunch down pretty quick as she is giving me the brief on what I have to do. She says have you used one of these phone system's before? Seeing. Computer screen all extension numbers on it, all extra nos. on the bottom of the screen, (in my mind, I'm freaking about now!) but I calmly say, oh no I haven't, but I'm sure if you show me, I'll be ok :) the phone rings, numbers and lights all start to light up the computer screen, oh yes I'm going to have fun, I can see that now! We do all the basics, franking machine, deliveries, two pages of people NOT at work, all hand scribbled, which I could hardly make out. Nikki tests me with the system before she goes just to make sure I do it properly, phew, I passed the test. my head was spinning at the prospect of over 300+ employees in this company and I didn't know a name or which department they belonged? Welcome to the trusty "Temp Reception Bible of Procedures" everything you should ever need to know about the company and the procedures, if you ever have enough time to read it!
I must say the afternoon went fantastically and I met so many lovely people :) I really made sure I introduced myself to everyone who came near the desk, whether they wated it or not, I was going to be friendly and get to know a few people. Well I think this paid off, little did I know, I was chatting to one of the Senior Managers, I purposely introduced myself, and told him my name and then asked him his, haha and then I asked him what his position was with the company (he had to tell me then) then he went on to tell me all about this new venture he was embarking on and it was just down the road. I had already been given a bit of inside knowledge of this from Nikki, who suggested to me that I talk to HR as they had 2 admin positions going with the new subsidiary. So of course I had to talk to him (Paul) about the vacant positions. I was very diplomatic, asking all about the running of the operation etc and then I asked if there were any vacancies in this new project he was embarking on. Paul seemed very keen the. To say yes there is, I asked if it was only for internal staff to apply or could anyone apply. At this stage I had told him a bit about what I had done, we had done the big chat about Australia :) he was keen to know more and then I said, so Paul, when can I give you a copy of my CV and covering letter, as I most certainly would like to be put forward for this position. Then he said, yes yes Alana, by all means, just see Jo! The HR Manager and send it into her. This position is for Operations Administrator and Paul would be my boss, if I were to get this position, there is also another position for Sales Administrator, which at the moment is a 6 Months contract, I was encouraged to apply for both.
So from my quick can you go into do a job for this big Factory this afternoon, could well open another door for me in the future. Time will tell. Whilst I was hard t work, another amazing thing happened, the first Agency I called on in Bath a couple of weeks ago, had rung me, but I had my phone on silent whilst on the temp job.
Today (thurs) I ring them back, oh Alana, we met a couple of weeks ago, when you came into see us, I'm sorry it's been so long to get back to, but we would really like for you to come in for an interview with us, as we would like to sign you up. :) I have had all 3 Agencies contact me now, and I have told each of them, that I'm signed up with the other, I think it makes for a bit of competition, as to who gets me first :) well I'm hoping that be the case. I'm in St the shops this afternoon, phone rings, Juice recruitment, I'm working all next week and then a couple of days the following week, might even have more after that. Yay, it's starting to happen for me at last, I'm truly grateful, I give thanks and I know my clarity and calmness through the meditations have been helping me so much!
I'm hoping now for an interview with Rotork, that is the factory I was working with for the afternoon :) I am working for the Architect next week, after that, I'm am available for permanent full time work within 30 mins of home, working for the best company and the best possible job suited to me. Thank you, thank you xx
I hope I haven't bored you all to tears too much with the work stories, it has been much of the focus of my weeks for the last bit, but on another note, I'm looking forward to the weekend and what it holds, I definitely will be driving somewhere as we have a Bank holiday Monday :), so I will be out and about with my trusty camera smiling at people and chatting to whoever wants to listen, might even be the trees or the nature, I don't care, as long as I'm out in it and enjoying the peace and beautiful scenery.
Love to you all till the next blog xxxxxxx
